10th Look Good, Feel Good Award
The ACA Conference at Manchester International Conference Centre, Manchester saw the presentation of the 10th annual ACA/PromoCon ‘Look Good, Feel Good’ Award to Coloplast for the Peristeen Anal Irrigation System. Peristeen Anal Irrigation (also known as Trans-anal irrigation or rectal irrigation) is a unique way of emptying the lower bowel and is used to prevent faecal incontinence, constipation or simply as a method of bowel management. The winning product, Peristeen, is the only anal irrigation system available on prescription. It has been specifically designed to make it portable and easy to use, which offers independence and a sense of confidence to the user. It can be used by people with a variety of bowel problems.
Runners UpIn 2nd place - The UnoComfor disposable male urinal from UnoMedical. This innovatively designed single use disposable leak-proof male urinal with non-return valve can hold up to 1 litre of urine. Its unique design ensures that it can be used discreetly and the storage space required for a traditional single use male urinal is drastically reduced.
In 3rd place - The Abri-Man disposable male continence pad from Abena. Abri-Man is available in two different absorption capacities, Formula 1 and Formula 2 to meet individual needs. The products feature a self-adhesive strip which can be positioned in close fitting underwear. Alternatively, they can be used with the specially designed Abri-Fix Men Pants.
The aim of the Look Good, Feel Good award is to encourage manufacturers to consider the appearance of products as well as their performance. Very often a person with bladder or bowel problems will dismiss a product purely on its appearance without considering if the product would help them regain continence or manage their incontinence more effectively and enhance quality of life. Companies exhibiting products at the ACA Conference were invited to enter any product that had been launched since the previous conference. All products were judged by representatives from ACA, Continence and Skin Technology Group, Bladder and Bowel Foundation and PromoCon. |
