All in a Day’s Work

Coping with Bladder and Bowel Problems at Work

Bladder and Bowel problems in people of working age are more common than you may think.

  • It is estimated that over 1 in 20 women aged between 15 and 44 years and up to 1 in 7 women aged between 45 and 64 suffer with bladder problems.
  • Over 1 in 33 men of working age have bladder problems.
  • It is estimated that 1% of the adult population have bowel problems.

PromoCon can help you by

  • Giving information and advice about bladder and bowel problems and where to get medical help
  • Suggesting products that are more suitable and discreet
  • Being a ‘sounding board’ to discuss if you should disclose information about your condition with colleagues or your employer. If they are aware of your problems they may be able to support you

Information is also available about the

  • ‘All in a Day’s Work’ Research Project and the research finding

PromoCon can provide information for employers and how they can support employees. A briefing paper is available which

  • Identifies the problems faced by people with bladder and bowel problems which have an impact on their day to day working life
  • Highlights simple, cost effective solutions that really can support people in the workplace environment
  • Offers details of a confidential helpline facility where employers can discuss the best way to support an employee
  • Provides useful contact details of other organisations to support people with bladder and bowel conditions
  • Highlights your responsibility as an employer under the Disability Discrimination Act
