Products - Research and Development PromoCon works in partnership with companies and statutory and voluntary organisations to facilitate product development. We would like to hear from people who would wish to become involved in any of the following projects:
PromoCon are aware, due to the volume of calls to the helpline, that there is an obvious gap in the design of disposable continence products for children. It appears that the main gap is in for children who require products that are larger than toddler nappies and smaller than adult extra small. If you are having difficulty obtaining products and may be interested in participating in product trials contact June Rogers on June.Rogers@disabledliving.co.uk
In April 2005 the BioMed Health Technology Co-operative (HTC) was set up to accelerate the development and use of new technologies, treatments and devices through close collaboration between users, industry, universities and healthcare providers. By focusing on intractable urinary incontinence, the BioMed HTC aims to raise standards by investigating the problems and addressing the scientific and technological challenges. If you have intractable urinary incontinence and would like to know more about the BioMed HTC and how you could be involved in their research programmes:- For further information contact Adele Long Tel: 0117 959 5690
PromoCon has identified an increase in the number of enquiries to their help line from health professionals who are experiencing difficulties in assessment and managing continence problems in patients who are clinically obese. There is a clinical need for products but this does not equate with a commercial need, therefore it is important that we collate the evidence needed to persuade manufacturers that they must invest in product development. If you have patients who require products or you are a person that has found that current products are not suitable for your need please contact Karen Foster at PromoCon for further information Tel: 08707 601580 or
